Surround Sound, Wireless Surround Sound, Surround Sound Systems

Home theater systems have everything you need in one box to add surround sound to your TV. These systems consist of a receiver (often with a Blu-ray or DVD player built in), surround speakers, and a subwoofer. Most are 5.1 systems, and a smaller number are 7.1 systems (which add rear speakers). Most manufacturers now offer wireless surround sound, in which your surround speakers are wired into a box behind you so that you don't have to run wires across the floor to the main receiver. And if you want to upgrade your sound without adding surround sound, a 2.1 system includes left and right channel speakers plus a subwoofer for greatly improved audio.
